Sancta Familia Academy At Home
School Year 2008-2009
Home Learning & Extension Services
    (2)  Students learning at home may opt to be part of a private school  ("umbrella" or "cover" school)
rather than register in a home education program with the school board.  A non-traditional private school
can offer a wide range of services, primarily record keeping, report cards, and official transcripts, but
may include curriculum guides, lesson plans, or even correspondence courses and textbooks.

Sancta Familia Academy offers a private school enrollment option for students learning at home under
the guidance and direction of their parents. The private school enrollment option is for students who
choose not to register in a home education program pursuant to Florida statute 1002.41, but choose
rather to enroll in a private school in the state of Florida.  In addition to all membership benefits, enrolled
students receive record keeping services including a cumulative file, report cards, and official transcripts.

Home Learning Co-operative

Sancta Familia Academy welcomes home schooling students to participate in our on campus activities
and classes through our Homeschool Co-op.  Parent-educators may take advantage of group classes,
experienced teachers, and additional resources for courses which they would prefer not to teach at
    home.

    1002.01 Definitions
    (1) A "home education program" means the sequentially progressive instruction of a student directed by his
or her parent in order to satisfy the attendance requirements of ss.1002.41,1003.01(4), and 1003.21(1).

    (2) A "private school" is a non public school defined as an individual, association, copartnership, or
corporation, or department, division, or section of such organizations, that designates itself as an
educational center that includes kindergarten or a higher grade or as an elementary, secondary, business,
technical, or trade school below college level or any organization that provides instructional services that
meet the intent of s. 1003.01(14) or that gives preemployment or supplementary training in technology or in
fields of trade or industry or that offers academic, literary, or career and technical training below college
level, or any combination of the above, including an institution that performs the functions of the
above schools through correspondence or extension, except those licensed under the provisions of
chapter 1005. A private school may be a parochial, religious, denominational, for-profit, or nonprofit school.
This definition does not include home education programs conducted in accordance with s. 1002.41.

Home School Support Network

    (1)  Members of Sancta Familia Academy can choose to participate in our Home School Support Group
only, or parents may choose to enroll their children in our private school for record keeping.  Home
Educators who register their children with the county superintendent in a home education program in
compliance with Florida Statute 1002.41 do not register for enrollment with a private school.  However,
Sancta Familia Academy offers a "membership only" option for home education students so that they
may take advantage of our educational services, including co-op classes, and be a member of our
    educational community.  FL s. 1003.01 (13) choice (d)
