Parents who choose to educate their children at home but wish to have the support, guidance, and services of a private school may enroll in our Umbrella Program even if they do not take any classes on campus.
Sancta Familia Home Academy is a non-traditional private school, as described in FL statute 617, providing services to homeschoolers in Florida. SFHA exists to support and facilitate homeschooling as an educational choice. SFHA offers Florida homeschooling families membership and enrollment options so that families can select the level of support and guidance that's right for them.
Florida homeschooling families who choose to enroll with a private school do not fall under the Florida home education statutes. Students enrolled in Sancta Familia Academy are considered private school students legally; however, in practice, they are homeschooled by their parents. Parents of enrolled students do not have to submit a Notice of Intent to the Superintendent, submit results of an annual evaluation to the public school board, nor comply with any other part of the home education statutes. Instead, families enrolling in a Florida private school with a homeschool option must follow the requirements set forth by the private school. In turn, the school complies with state statutes governing private schools, including keeping attendance.
(Note: Students enrolled with an out-of-state school are not meeting the compulsory attendance requirements of the state of Florida.)
